Countdown to Rugby World Cup - Open Day at Millwall Rugby Club - WE NEED HELPERS NEXT TUESDAY

Date: Tues 17th March (Next Tues)

Time: 11am to 3pm

Venue: Millwall Park & Rugby Clubhouse

As you may or may not know our youth team have been working hard behind the scenes to set up the RWC Countdown to Rugby Open Day at Millwall Rugby Club which will take place on the 17^th of March (next Tuesday).

So successful has the feedback been that there will be around 500 children attending. This will work out to be a great promotion for both Millwall Rugby Club, and Rugby Union in the Tower Hamlets area.

As you can imagine, 500 children will no doubt be a handful and as such any help you could provide on this day will be greatly appreciated.
 

We have a few volunteers, but WE NEED MORE. 

Remember, a great deal of Canary Wharf and City employers allow their employees to take a day a year to help with community events. 

The kids will be arriving from around 11.45am and will be running through the various training stations until 3.00pm so you will be required during this time. Ideally, we would like coaches to arrive around 45 minutes ahead of time to assist with the set up.

Volunteers would be leading or supporting taster sessions, helping organise kids and supporting the taster session rotations.

Come and watch our Youth game (Under 9s) this Sunday 28th September 2014

This Sunday from 10.30am onwards, come down and watch our youth section take part in a training session and their first fixture of the season.

Our Under 9s Lions will be playing against Old Colfieans Under 9s. Exact details, length format etc are still being worked out but the kick off time will be 11am.

New Cubs Section launched for ages 3 to 5

We are proud to announce the launch of the Lion Cubs, the newest addition to the youth section.  The Lion Cubs section is aimed at children between the ages of 3 and 5.

Sessions will take place every Sunday on Millwall Park from 10am until 10.45am.

Rugby Ready & Tag Rugby Courses in September

For those of you wishing to attend the Rugby Ready or Tag rugby courses being hosted at the club in September please register at http://www.rfu.com/takingpart/coach/findacourse and book yourself onto the course as soon as possible.

These courses tend to fill very quickly.

Millwall Lions win Rhino Rugby competition!!!

In conjunction with @Rhino_Rugby and @RhinoTeamwear, #RugbyUnited launched a competition to reward a youth rugby side with the following kit;

A set of Tags and Tag belts

A set of balls and a ball bag

A set of Crusher T-Shirts (black/red navy/white or blue/grey)

A set of Jogging bottoms and T-Shirts

Millwall Lions were selected from all the entries for offering free rugby training for local children and will receive the above equipment as their prize.

Rugby Fridays start this week!!

This Friday sees the start of ‘Rugby Fridays’, Millwall Rugby Club’s summer programme for 7-11 year olds. The programme is sponsored by Canary Wharf Group PLC and runs every Friday through the school holidays.

Girls and boys learn a fast, fun, skilled and tactical team game with RFU qualified and licensed coaching staff.  The sessions are free and run from 10:30am – 2:30pm on Millwall Park, by Island Gardens DLR station, with lunch provided.

Millwall Lions Relaunch

Hi all,

An update on here has been long over due!!

But finally things are beginning to move forward again and with several successful events taking place in the past weeks the Lions will roar again very soon!

Following the success of these events Im glad to announce the Millwall Lions Relaunch!
On Sunday 3rd of March at Millwall park we will have RFU coaches running FREE coaching sessions for all ages between 7 and 17.

For anyone who fills in an information form on the day we have mini Millwall rugby club balls to give away.
