MRFC - East End fun @ the Clubhouse

Try to get down to the club this Saturday, Players & Parents

Not only will the England v Ireland game be showing on the big screen
(and where better to watch international rugby than with mates at a
rugby club?) but Barry Gray and his 4th XV team are putting together a
riot of fun described as an "East End Night" (or Cockney Knees Up) so
don't miss this one!

The Club will be open tonight as usual. With training cancelled, its a
chance for even the dedicated athletes in the club to take an evening
off and just socialise.

Friday evening sees Wales v France kicking off at 8pm, so come along
and see if the taffs can knock the frogs off course (and do everyone
else a favour!)

The early game on Saturday is Italy v Scotland starting at 1.30pm. If
we have someone to man the bar while most of the players are away
playing then we will be showing this game live.

The big England v Ireland game kicks off at 4pm so get back from
wherever quickly to catch it all at the clubhouse.

From 6pm the 4th XV will be taking over with some very special
entertainment including a proper cockney sing-a-long with Marc Walker,
James Gough's Cockney Rhyming Slang quiz plus Matt & Ross's

traditional drinking games - all washed down with authentic East End
Pie & Mash (liquor optional!).

We have a bottle or two to share (free) with anyone wearing
traditional Cockney/East End dress, so dig out your boots, braces and
caps etc and add to the atmosphere!

PLEASE make an extra effort to get down this weekend, support Barry
and the 4ths AND have a great time too... If you are one of the
friends who haven't yet made it to the club on a big night, make this

the one for you.

If someone is keen to man the bar on Sunday afternoon, we might even
show the round-ball Carling Cup Final...

Coming up in March... a night with the netball girls...St Patrick's
Day... 6 Nations Finals Day.

Finally, with thanks to the new friends who have recently started
helping out behind our bar, we are still looking for more people to
take a turn - check out the Calendar on
http://www.millwallrugby.com/clubhouse
and let us know if you can help out.

Help Josh help the Heroes!

Dear Players & Parents,

Former England international and Millwall honorary life member Josh
Lewsey is climbing Mount Everest to raise money for Help for Heroes.

As you would be aware, Millwall Rugby Club's youth section owes a lot
to Josh through his involvement in setting up the Josh Lewsey Rugby
Academy in East London, resulting in a massive increase in local kids
being exposed to rugby. It has reached corners of Tower Hamlets
schools that we have not had the resources to do in the past.

If you would like to support Josh in his monumental challange, and
donate to this hugely worthy cause, you can text 'everest' to 60999
this will donate 5 directly to help for Heroes on your behalf.

We are currently arranging Josh's annual visit to Millwall Rugby Club,
but in the meantime, if you would like to read more about his everest
climb, visit http://www.mounteverestclimb2010.com/

On behalf of Millwall Rugby Club, we wish Josh all the best and hope
he makes it to the top (and back!) safely.

Thanks

Matt Shorrock

Wed 24th Feb Training Cancelled

Dear Players & Parents,

Due to adverse weather and water-logging, the lower paddock at
Mudchute Farm is unsuitable for rugby training.

Therefore, all rugby training, including adults, colts, ladies and
youth has been cancelled for this week.

For the youth section teams and colts, this means there will be no
training on Wednesday 24th February.

Training will continue on Sunday on Millwall Park.

We will assess the situation later this week as to whether we resume
next Wednesday.

The team managers and I will keep you informed of any decisions made
about this.

thanks
