Under 15s continue impressive streak

Millwall U15s (32) def Shoreditch Sharks U15s (15)

Millwall Lions Under 15's extended their winning streak to three matches on Sunday as they breezed past Shoreditch Sharks 32-15 on Millwall Park.

Fullback Jacob Lajolie was again the star, scoring two tries and was well supported by team Captain and fly half Bobby Grace, who kicked one conversion and steered his team around the park confidently.

The home side started on the front foot with a try to Danny Hunt in the first few minutes. The score was successfully converted by Grace for a 7-0 lead.

Back-row player, Elliot Nagel was next on the score sheet to extend the Isle of Dogs club's lead to 12-0 as the half time break arrived.

Shoreditch rallied to begin the second half with a well worked try, following a clean break up the side line narrowing the Millwall lead to 12-7.

The two evenly matched teams then traded tries as Millwall's 17-12 lead looked shaky going into the final quarter of the match, as mistakes crept into the play of both teams.

Buoyed by a strong and vocal Millwall Park crowd, the home sided stormed home piling on three tries in the final 15 minutes to secure their third consecutive victory.

Although a final consolation try to the visitors flattered the score line, this did not worry assistant coach Mal McLean, who was full of praise for the youngsters:

"They started a little bit like headless chickens in the opening minutes, but thankfully things settled down once they got their first try" he said.

"I was really impressed with their team work and ball movement, but there are some obvious things we still need to work on in the coming weeks"

"Overall, the coaching staff is very happy with the performance and the boys' confidence is now showing as they continue to translate what they learn on the training paddock to the playing field".

Millwall Under 15s have a chance to stretch their winning run to four this Sunday as they host Essex club Maldon on Millwall Park, with kick off at 11am. Local and vocal supporters are welcome and encouraged!
